Plot Summary of Don't Starve Together

This post focuses solely on collecting and organizing the plot of Don't Starve Together, specifically the events following Wilson's banishment from the throne by Charlie. The multiplayer game defaults to using the Reign of Giants (RoG) world and characters from the single-player version. Since access to the Shipwrecked and Hamlet content requires special items, and new characters are not included in the multiplayer version, these can be considered parallel storylines to the single-player game and will not be discussed here.

The spawn point, known as the Eerie Portal. According to the comic, this structure was built by Wilson as a means to escape the Don't Starve world.

This is the first teaser comic for Don't Starve Together. The comic reveals the following details:

  1. Wilson is seen making salve and lighting a campfire, with a forest and a full moon in the background. Since there is no snow on the trees, it is not winter.
  2. Judging by Wilson's beard, he has survived there for quite some time.
  3. The materials he uses include rocks, wooden boards, a crow, and berries.
  4. Wilson activates the portal, and several silhouettes emerge from it. He remarks, "This blasted thing is what brought me here."

This is the initial multiplayer interface. The seasonal bosses also appear near the location of Bearger, behind the Eerie Portal. Don't Starve Together (DST) defaults to the settings of the Reign of Giants (RoG) DLC, including the four seasons, birch forests, and deserts. In DST, the Dragonfly has 27,500 health, which is ten times that of the single-player version. The Dragonfly only spawns in the desert near the magma pool and respawns 20 days after being killed. RoG serves as the foundational ecosystem for DST.

The game retains Glommer but removes the blueprint for the Old Bell. The full moon cycle in DST is 20 days, which also serves as the default respawn time for all bosses. There are no parts to jump between worlds, no Maxwell's Door, and no Adventure Mode. The single-player storyline can be considered a prequel to DST, which we will discuss later.

The Torch Puzzle comic continues the story from the single-player Adventure Mode, where Wilson ascends to the throne and Maxwell is banished. In Adventure Mode, Wilson enters Maxwell's Door, travels through various worlds by collecting parts, and eventually finds and replaces Maxwell.

The single-player Adventure Mode corresponds to the "The Triumphant" skin set in Don't Starve Together. Among the many victorious characters, Maxwell is the only one labeled as "The Untriumphant."

At the same time, Wilson and the others wear the "Shadow" outfits, while Maxwell dons the "Unshadow" suit. This suit is the one Maxwell wore for his "final performance" before being drawn into the Don't Starve world.

Two items appear in the comic: the "Blueprint" and the "Shadow Book" (waxwelljournal).

The Eerie Portal, which was built together by the two, transforms into the Florid Postern.

This marks the beginning of the multiplayer storyline's "New Era," known as ANR (A New Reign).

In the final scene, Charlie can be faintly seen reaching out from the top of the portal, overlooking everything. This portal has already been invaded and corrupted by Charlie. The roses clinging to the doorframe (flower_rose) are Charlie's signature mark.

Wendy is wearing a "Wool Sweater" and a "Skirt."

Wolfgang's skin, "The Survivor."

Maxwell is hiding behind the berry bushes, with twigs and grass transplanted by Wilson nearby. There's a science machine, a stone campfire, a crockpot, and a chest, indicating that Wilson has been surviving here for some time, arriving before Maxwell.

This raises a question: Maxwell was dethroned by Wilson and fell into this world through a portal in the sky. Wilson, however, was banished here by Charlie after ascending to the throne. So how is it possible that Wilson arrived in the Don't Starve world before Maxwell?

Maxwell attempts to cast a spell, but it has no effect. His magic is restricted here. Enter "infirmus" to begin the puzzle.

Charlie’s hand lurks near the campfire. Enter "PULVIS ET UMBRA SUMUS" ("Dust and Shadow") on the webpage to continue the puzzle.

Roses emerging from the ground are one of Charlie's key tools. Charlie uses these roses to keep an eye on others.

As a side note, the only skin where the Librarian Wickerbottom has her eyes open is the "Roseate" skin. In this skin, Wickerbottom uses a handkerchief to clean the mirror, trying to see what is in front of her. In other scenarios, she only opens her eyes when she is disoriented and looking around or when she falls asleep under hypnosis.

"New Era" ANR Poster (A New Reign)

In the Chapter 1 teaser for ANR (A New Reign), Willow inserts the Star Staff into the Moon Stone pedestal, causing a towering aurora that attracts nearby hounds. The petrified Pig King is freed from its seal and attacks the Moon Stone pedestal with great fury. Willow and Wilson fend off these creatures together while crafting the Moonstaff.

The "Hand of the Set Piece" will randomly spawn by the roadside during world creation, surrounded by 5 roses. Like the Pig King, it is an invincible unit. While you can hammer it to obtain blueprints, no matter how many times you strike it, it remains intact. When on fire, Charlie's hand will reach out from below to extinguish it.

In the Don't Starve world, players need to use fire to illuminate the night and avoid Charlie. During the night, the Hand of the Set Piece will crawl rapidly towards the firelight. Flowers on a coffee table will wilt after being burned, but the roses of the Set Piece Hand are fireproof. This is not unusual, as all shadow creatures in multiplayer are immune to fire.

After decrypting the "Tragic Torch" in the Cyclum comic, players must then locate a ruin within the "Atrium" maze in the caves. Two players are required to hold torches and work together to solve the Metheus runes.

The central stone pillar is the "Ancient Obelisk." The ground's markings help identify the location of this ruin, which is where the "Atrium Gate" is located.

The Ancient Gate is located at the center of the spiral-shaped ground.

The Ancient Obelisk is inscribed with symbols resembling ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. On the left console, two players input their respective rune bindings. On the right side, players must determine the correct sequence for the six types of offerings.

As the puzzle progresses, the process of creating the murals is gradually revealed. The ancient inhabitants of the caves left prophetic symbols in the murals.
